Garden Club of Oakmont Annual Scholarship for High School Seniors
The Garden Club of Oakmont is pleased to offer two $2,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors or post-grad students pursuing higher education, including a vocational or technical school. In order to qualify, you must reside in the Riverview School District. The award will be based on the applicant's overall academic performance, school activities, volunteerism, work history, and financial need, as well as answers to the scholarship essay questions and recommendations.
2024 Scholarship Winners
The Garden Club of Oakmont is pleased to announce that our 2024 Scholarship winners are Riverview High School graduating seniors Julia Slagle and Gianna Portera. Julia will be attending Chatham University in the Honors Program, majoring in Human Biology/Physical Assistant Studies with a goal of becoming a Physician Assistant. Gianna plans to attend The University of Miami to obtain a degree in Nursing. The award was based on the applicant’s overall academic performance, school activities, volunteerism, work history, financial need, letters of recommendation, as well as answers to the scholarship essay questions. The committee read and reviewed the redacted applications. Votes were tallied, put on a spreadsheet, and a meeting was held to discuss and choose the winner. The students, along with a guest, will be invited to our June meeting. |

2022 GCO Scholarship Winners
The Garden Club of Oakmont is pleased to announce that our 2022 Scholarship winners are Riverview High School graduating seniors Alessandra Ciccone and Julia Ciorra.
Alessandra will be attending The Ohio State University to pursue a career in healthcare, specifically genetic counseling and medical research. Julia plans to attend a four year university to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and eventually a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree. |
2021 GCO Scholarship Winners
We are pleased to announce that our 2021 GCO Scholarship winners are Riverview High School graduating seniors Jakob Killmeyer and Sydney Wilson. Sydney will be attending Chatham University to study psychology, and Jakob will attend Pitt for pre-medicine.
2020 GCO Scholarship Winners
The Garden Club of Oakmont is pleased to announce our 2020 Scholarship winners Erik Ketterer and Forrest Steele. Both Erik and Forrest are 2020 graduates of Riverview High School. Erik has been admitted to the Eberly College of Science at Penn State (University Park), where he will pursue a degree in Statistics. Forrest will be studying at the Penn State (University Park) College of Engineering to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
For 2020 only, the Club decided to award two, $2000 scholarships in recognition of the outstanding academic achievements and community involvement of these two young men. Both plan to be present at the June Club general meeting to be introduced to our members. Congratulations Erik and Forrest! |
2019 GCO Scholarship Winner
The Garden Club of Oakmont is proud to announce our 2019 Scholarship winner is Ryann Heffley. Ryann is a 2019 graduate of Riverview High School in Oakmont. She will be attending the University of Pittsburgh as a double major in Biology and Creative Writing and a minor in Dance.

2018 GCO Scholarship Award Winner
The Garden Club of Oakmont is pleased to announce the 2018 Scholarship winner is Marina Paulone. Marina graduated from Riverview High School. Her proud mother is Anette Paulone.
Marina will be attending St. Vincent College this fall, and plans to major in Dentistry. The Scholardhip was awarded on May 9th at the Oaks Theater. On June 19th, Marina and her Mom were the guests of the Garden Club for Brunch at Oakmont Country Club. Marina was presented with her award and congratulated by all Members attending. Bravo Marina! |
2017 GCO Scholarship Award Winner
fter an intensive competition among more than a dozen well-qualified candidates, the Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce Riverview High School Senior Kerrigan Sebastian is the winner of the Garden Club of Oakmont 2017 Scholarship. The award was presented on May 10th at the Senior Athletic and Honor Awards Ceremony held at The Oaks Theater. Kerrigan will attend Penn State Main Campus this summer. She plans to major in Marketing/Finance. Kerrigan and her mother will attend the June Meeting at the Oakmont Country Club where our members will have the opportunity to personally congratulate this impressive young woman. |
2016 GCO Scholarship Award Winner....
The Garden Club of Oakmont is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2016 Scholarship is Riverview High School graduate Alexis M. Teitelbaum. Alexis is the daughter of Kim Teitelbaum, a member of The Oakmont Garden Club.
Once again, all of the candidates were impressive, qualified and deserving. It was a difficult choice for the committee members. Alexis is planning on majoring in Education. Her ambition is to work with elementary level students. Alexis and her Mother will be joining us at the June meeting. Alexis will be attending Seaton Hill. |
