Gardening with Seniors
The Gardening with Seniors committee is very excited to be back to in person sessions with the residents at Presbyterian Senior Care.

St. Patrick’s Day was the theme for our March 6th Gardening with Seniors program. Nancy Williams read St Patrick’s Day stories and had the residents
discussing what their memories of St Patrick’s Day. Diane Harrell led us all in singing “When Irish Eyes are Shining” and reciting an Irish poem. Mary Tyke and Franny Gustaferro lead the project which involved decorating a potted succulent. Members decorated succulents in pots for residents that were unable to attend. Snacks included delicious pistachio cupcakes.

On February 6th the members of the Gardening with Seniors Committee met with residents of Presbyterian Senior Care for a Valentine’s Day project. Residents decorated quart jars with ribbons and stickers and then created their own arrangements from red, white and pink carnations and baby’s breath. The residents also received special treats and Valentines cards.

Our December 12th Gardening with Seniors project involved decorating a large pinecone to like a Christmas tree. Residents also had a snack which included cookies, candy and a Clementine.

Our first project on October 3, 2022, was the ever popular “From our Own Gardens” project. Member donated many lovely flowers from their gardens for the residents to arrange in mason jar vases. Delicious snacks and drinks were also provided. It was great to be back with old friends and new meet some of the new residents.
Our second project on October 17, 2022, was decorating bags with Halloween stickers and filling them with artificial fall flowers and leaves. Some of the members dressed in costumes for the occasion.
